Who me?

June 27, 2008 at 7:02 pm (Uncategorized)

Hello out there!!!  Yes, its true!  Its really me.

I know I haven’t blogged lately, but I have been really busy lately.  Of course I don’t have many funny home stories right now since husband isn’t home.

Oh yea!!!  Fiancé now = husband.  I got married on May 17th.  The weather turned out great and the wedding turned out wonderfully!  I can’t wait to get our pictures back, they look so great!!!

Let’s see here… I covered the wedding thing.. what else have you missed..

I recently accepted a position at a company in Omaha.  I am very sad to be leaving my friends behind (although I promise I will visit, and of course we will talk!!), but I am also really excited to be back in the same home that my husband lives in J

We are in the process of trying to buy a new home.  Husband has been working on the outside of it, trying to get the yard back into shape, and the gutter draining properly.  I can’t wait to see everything that he has gotten completed!

This weekend I am going to get to be a judge in a childrens parade!  Im not sure exactly what Im judging, but Im still really excited to be able to start doing community stuff!  Yea for me!

Well, I think that is all for right now… I will try to post again soon!

Oh Walter..

May 12, 2008 at 1:23 pm (Uncategorized)

I hope everyone had a great weekend.  I did for the most part!

I got to attend a play that my friend from work was in on Friday.  Its called Crossing Delancey, and it was very humorous!  She did a great job delivering the package and saying her line “Eastside Delivery!”

On Saturday Eli and I hung out, just the two of us.  We got to pick up some tools from Lowes, and then buy some new shoes from the shoe store.  I apparently have found a new love for shoes; he bought 1 pair, and I picked out 3.  Sorry honey!!

Sunday we got some yard work done and that was that.

I got to visit my parents on Sunday to wish my mom a Happy Mothers day!  She is feeling a lot better, but I still think she doesn’t feel the best… even though she won’t admit it.

I also noticed on Sunday when I visited that Walter Croncat didn’t come out to visit me like normal.  Usually he will come out and visit and sit on my lap.  I had known that mom had thought she was allergic to him, so we were trying to find a new home for him.  I had a hunch that he might be gone yesterday, but didn’t really want to ask about it at the time.

This morning when I visited mom mentioned “Have you wondered why Walter hasn’t come out to visit you?”  I said yeah, I had figured something was up.  Apparently they found someone who wanted Walter, so this said person came to visit and pick him up one day during last week.  I didn’t even know about it.  I was still looking for someone I knew to take him.  I know it is in Moms best interest to get rid of him, just in case he was causing her to get allergies, so Im not really mad at them for doing it the way that they did.

I just wish I could have said goodbye.

Its Raining, It’s pouring, I was in bed snoring

May 2, 2008 at 3:15 pm (Uncategorized)

Last evening and into the night the Midwest got hit by some bad storms.  In my area around 8:30 there were ‘tornado sightings’, however there weren’t any touchdowns.  The of course told us to go to the basement and take cover, which meant that I went upstairs and on the back deck to watch the tornado roll in.

Nothing really happened at 8:30, but this morning around 2:00 am there were winds in the 50mph and up range.  We don’t have any trees in our little housing area, so there wasn’t much damage to look at, but at my parents house it looked pretty bad.

There were tree’s down all over their yard.  The cap to the chimney (to keep the birds out) had flown off into the yard, and there were pieces of shingles lying around.  My mother has some little plaster flower people that adorn the front porch, and when I went to see her this morning, there were flower bodies littering the sidewalk.  It was like a little massacre of the flower people, which little petal body parts lying askew on the ground.

One of the saddest things was the purple martin bird house that they have.  Apparently purple martins like their houses up high, so many people (including my parents) place their houses on long metal poles.  The wind apparently struck the little house, causing the metal pole to fold.  The poor little house was almost on the ground, lying sideways.  I only hope that they didn’t have babies in there!  The poor birds were flying around their broken home.  I wonder if they are waiting for the insurance money?

Wonderous Weekend

April 28, 2008 at 8:44 pm (Uncategorized)

Hello all!  Just wanted to give a recap of my weekend.

I had my wedding shower on Saturday.  Everyone was so very nice, and got us lots of stuff to help us start our married life together!  How nice!  Beth, Hannah, and Carolyn did a great job decorating and providing food.  My friend Amy even stated it was one of the best wedding showers that she has attended.

–Thanks to everyone for making my wedding shower memorable for me and others!—

Beth and Hannah also mentioned on Friday that they would like to take me out while the boys are having their bachelor part next Saturday.  I think it sounds like a lot of fun.  They mentioned getting pampered with a pedicure, and going out to dinner.  On Saturday, Hannah informed me that my bachelorette party might be kind of lame.  WHAT??!!??  Why the heck would she think it was going to be lame??  She then let me in on a little secret… she wont be able to have any drinks with me  — She’s pregnant!  YEA!!!!  I am so excited for them!

It was a great weekend!

Temptation

April 25, 2008 at 7:42 pm (Uncategorized)

So here I am… staring down this darn brownie on my desk.  I told myself I was only going to have a few bites of it, however my co-worker Jill said it right when she told me it would be calling my name.  You will not conquer me evil brownie!

Im trying to hit a goal weight before the wedding.  People think Im kind of silly to have a goal weight picked out, but its not like Im trying to hit 90 lbs or anything.  It’s a healthy goal weight that will make me feel happy and pretty in my dress.  I, sadly, have a very big downfall for chocolate that might make my goal weight impossible!

Anyway.. Tonight we are heading to Iowa to visit friends and family.  Tomorrow is when my wedding shower is going to be held.  Im really getting excited to see everyone!  My good friend, which I have known since junior high, is driving up for it also.  Im so excited that I have so many people who care for me to visit!

Well, off I go to win this staring contest between myself and the sinfully good hunk of goop on my paper plate.  Hmm…. maybe one more bite.

I scream, you scream, we all scream for ice cream

April 24, 2008 at 9:15 pm (Uncategorized)

Tonight is Ice cream night for the girls!  My friend and I are going to eat at her house and then go for ice cream afterwards.  Im so excited, my brain even hurts trying to figure out ahead of time what kind of ice cream I want!

I know that Grey’s Anatomy is on tonight, however I luckily have the wonderful technology of DVR.  Yea!  I think I am also going to try to catch my first episode of ‘Ace of Cakes’.  I have heard its pretty neat, but have never sat down to watch it.

This weekend is my wedding shower.  I hope the weather is nice for it.  Im really excited to show my parents around the area fiancé and I visit quite a bit.  I think they will realize why we like to go there so much.

Wedding plans are moving along.  I still have, I believe, three invitations that need to be mailed out, and my RSVP date was the 23rd.  Oops!  Guess I will just mark out the 23rd date and place a smiley next to it J.

Dangerous Jobs

April 23, 2008 at 8:22 pm (Uncategorized)

I remember seeing a show on the Discovery channel about the worlds most dangerous jobs.  One I believe was crab fishing, another was working a big crane; jobs like that.  I think that IT should have its own place on the ‘Dangerous Jobs’ list.

Now, you might be thinking…. “What’s so dangerous about IT”?  I never would have thought this job was dangerous until just a moment ago with I inadvertently rammed my head on a keyboard shelf to our server cabinet.  I was nonchalantly putting a disk into one of the lower servers in the cabinet and when I went to stand up… bam… it got me!

This incident made me question what other things might happen while working in a standard IT department… Like that rolling chair that you stand on to try to reach a little higher (even though you know your not supposed to, but it’s oh so convenient).  Or how about the door that normally opens when you push on it, but for some reason doesn’t this time, so you slam into it with your body.  Of course everyone knows of the pain that goes hand in hand with the almighty paper cut, or even worse the cardboard shipping box cut!  You never know when you might have your eye poked out by a flying pen cap!

Just goes to show, there is danger lurking in the most innocent of places J

The Countdown Begins

April 22, 2008 at 9:30 pm (Uncategorized)

I’m super excited that Grays Anatomy will be making is return debut this Thursday!  I’m hoping it’s a full blown episode, and not one of those ‘catch up’ episodes.  I’ll admit, Im also excited to see Ugly Betty too!

I realized again that I didn’t post yesterday.  I must have had a case of bloggers block.  I couldn’t think of anything to blog about!  I wonder how you go about curing bloggers block??

My nephew was taken to the hospital last night.  He is doing okay, but he was having trouble trying to breath and he has an ear infection, bronchial infection, and a slight case of pneumonia.  My mom really wanted to go see him, so I drove her to the hospital he was at with the aid of my GPS.

For the people who know me, I get lost really easy, therefore my wonderous fiancé purchased a GPS for me for my Birthday.  I have found that I have new confidence with my GPS – A.K.A Lola – by my side.  I feel like I can drive anywhere now!  Well, anywhere that isn’t surrounded by water.

A chick named Chuck

April 18, 2008 at 6:55 pm (Uncategorized)

This is the story of how Chuck was saved from a death of infernal doom (A.K.A – the trash can).

For Easter, as a gift for fiancé, I filled an Easter basket full of candy and topped it off with a little wind up chicken that hops around.  I didn’t really think that he would take to the silly little chicken, but it seems that he did.

Over the days, I became somewhat attached to tiny plastic chicken.  I mean how could you not when you would come home from work and find him in different places of the house, or with his tiny plastic feet stuck in fiancés mouth or nostrils, hopping about gleefully.

Yesterday after coming home from work I noticed that fiancé had cleaned up the house.  I also noticed that the Easter candy was cleaned up.  Sadly, there was no sight of tiny plastic chicken.  I asked fiancé if he had thrown tiny plastic chicken away?  He stated that “Oh, I must have when I cleaned up the candy”.  I let him know that that was perfectly fine with me, I didn’t think he would really even take to tiny plastic chicken, but that it was kind of sad to see him go.  No longer would I be able to come home and spot tiny plastic chicken bobbling around happy to greet me from a day at work.    Fiancé said “I’m sorry…. I will go get him”.  EEEWWWWW!  I told him that was fine, because we didn’t know what else lived in that big grey plastic trash can!  Who would want a tiny grubby plastic chicken anyway?  Fiancé felt that it was the right thing to do anyway, and happily pulled tiny plastic chicken from the depths of chocolaty, paper covered, and who knows what else infernal doom (the whole while I stood there with a funny looking scrunched up face saying aaaccckkk).  Fiancé walked over to me with his tiny treasure; as he neared me he smelt tiny plastic chicken and assured me “Its okay!! He still smells Eastery!”

As I brushed the dirt (it may have been chocolate) off tiny plastic chickens head, I decided we should give him a rightfully deserved name.

And that is the story of a chick named Chuck!
